Hi, I have 2 male and 4 female platys and they are always pregnant soon after giving birth. Would it be beneficial for them to give them a break and remove the males for a while, or does it not matter?

It doesn't matter, the females would keep producing babies. The female can actually store sperm and continue producing fry for 6 months to a year with no male present.

I don't think it really matters, unless your having problems with too many fry. I'd say the females are constantly pregnant in the wild too, they're 'designed' (not the best word) to constantly produce young because so many would get eaten.

No problems with too many fry, as of yet... I'm sure my betta is thrilled after every delivery... Every week when I clean the tank, I look really hard for fry and catch them and put them in a breeders net in another tank.. only up to 12 fry now. I know I don't have the tank space, but (call me cold, but they gotta eat too) I have a friend with an oscar that would love some parasite free, very well fed (haven't had any diseases in a year) live food.
