one think i dont get... what wattage is "medium"?

are you looking to plant your 20 gallon? what lighting do you have presently?

yup... in my 20g
i have the bubl that came with it (15w)
i know i need more.. but how many watts are min.?

Most Ludwigia would require a min of 2 wpg. The red species prefer higher light...something more along the lines of 3-4 wpg..

wpg?
im sorry.. this is the first time i ever planted a tank...:o

Day you need atleast 40 watts of light.

You don't want to go over 2 watts per gallon or you'll end up needing to inject carbon dioxide either pressurized or Do It Yourself (DIY) where you use a 2 liter bottle and yeast mix.

If you look on craigslist or freecycle/recycle on yahoo you might find a cheap alternative but you're looking at close to 100.00 most likely for the lighting you need. Unless you go AH Supply and have someone that can modify your current setup.

$100? No way Jose, I got my Coralife system for a 29g for less then $70.
