ID these PLants? ( pics)

Is this an anubia plant, and why is it that it keeps yellowing when I see it pearling all the time? ( I add CO2, flourish: occasionally excel, potassium, and iron. What could be the problem? (23watt compact flourescent 5000K, 72F, 2.5gal)

Also is this glossostigma? I have recently put in a 23watt compactflourescent in the tank 2.5gal, and want to see the plant grow to make a carpet.

Are you dosing KNO3 and KH2PO4?
That could be what your anubias is missing....otherwise it could be Potassium.....you didn't mention the dosage.

That last picture is not glossostima. It looks like a stem plant...glosso is a running plant, not a stem. That one looks like it is missing something, so it is a hard one to id...can you take another pic?

hello fresh newby, I think that the last picture is a glosso b/c it is just an elongated version due to low lighting from petco were I bought it from. However I am open to more suggestions to why it is not a glosso, are the runners supposed to be coming out of the top portion of the plant too, along the stem?
The dosing is about .25mL of potassium 2-3X week, 1.25mL excel from not dosing b/c just injecting, .25mL flourish 2-3X week, and .25 mL of iron every 4days or so. All flourish brands.

I'm not sure if your plant is an anubias, but if it is, you should plant it on driftwood or something of the sort since if it is planted in the gravel, the roots will rot and it will die.

penny...you aren't dosing any macros here, so I think that is your problem
Flouish excel and CO2.....carbon check
Iron....<careful not to overdo it...once a month should be fine.
Potassium....decemnt amount....check
Nitrates? Phosphates? none!
If you are providing good carbon for your plants and NO macros....you will find these deficiencies manifest as yellowing leaves, holes, stunted shoots....
I suggest you order 2 pounds of KNO3 and 1 pound of KH2PO4 from www.gregwatson.com and dose them 2 times a week ...

As for calling that stem plant glosso.....I don't think so...sorry. That is a stem, hands down. Glosso will not take the form of a stem plant no matter what conditions it is in. It characteristically forms plantlets and runs...you have something else there.....plus glosso leaves are more rounded, thicker and darker.

your plant looks like it could be a Ludwigia of sorts.

Thanks for all the info newby, I really thought that that plant was a glosso, too bad I really wanted a carpet plant. I am going to try to get some of that glosso soon, and Ill make sure that Ill get some of the nitrates and phospahtes asap. Also my anubias are in the gravel b/c I have root tabs near them, I had them on the driftwood about a week ago and they looked the same as they do now. The rhisome is above the gravel however and the water is free flowing around this. Thanks again for the great links and info.

you can plant anubias in gravel as long as the rhizome is above the substrate surface.....and this is. You can't submerge the rhizome or it will rot....the roots themselves can certainly be in substrate.

nope...Heminathus also spreads....this is clearly a stem. It will not carpet.....

dang, we'll have to see and when it gets mature Ill get some new pics. Ill post them and we can see what it has grown up to be, but that wont be for a while probably. Hope it doesn't die anytime soon. :)

that unknown plants look like a hygrophila or nomaphila family member? Could be wrong though. Other plant is definitely starved anubius. your getting good info from others.

It may be, miriam the plant might be a young hydrophila type plant, I looked it up on aquahobby.com and saw the different assortments of these type of plants, one looked possibly similar to the plant that I have:hydrophila polysperma. maybe? I dont know for sure though, but Im glad that my plants are in fact anubias and not some toxic house plant.
