I've been recently reading about the different types of algae and I have concluded that there is blue-green algae on the surface of the Eco-Complete substrate and on the Algae ball (Cladophora aegagropila) in my 10G grow-out tank.

I heard that I would be able to remove BGA by performing a blackout on the tank. Would I be able to do a 3-4 day blackout with the frys? If yes, how would I be able to feed them during the blackout period?

Okay, I'll be starting the treatment tomorrow morning.

Thank you, fishcatch.

I checked the algae in the tank, there is still a sheet of BGA on the Algae ball, but the ones on the substrate are pretty much gone. How would I be able to remove that type of algae (BGA) after the black-out treatment (which will be tomorrow)? Do I just remove the portions that have it attached to the algae ball?
