Can all three coexist peacefully? I know that the botia's will keep the snail pop down, but I would hope not eliminate it entirely - they do such a fabulous job of keeping the gravel clean and aerated! Here's two scenarios that I need help with:
1) livebearer tank with mollies, platies, rainbowfish, MTS (malaysian trumpet snails), and a few botias... can I also have amanos in with them?
2) central american cichlids (peaceful except for child rearing time) and platies, mollies, and rainbow shark as dithers - can I have any of these (or a combination of them)...? Botias, amano's, or MTS?

In a perfect world, it would be as easy as my fry grow out tank where I can have the red cherry shrimp AND MTS and all get along... but for the other fish...? I value any experience and input! Thanks in advance.

Personally, I wouldn't put the Amano shrimp in either. Definately not for the second one. I don't know about the snails or botias.

Well, I have discovered that I really need something amazing on the glass due to the way the tank is situated where I can't really get to the sides and the back to clean it - so I'm going with a BN pleco for that, so I'm down to BN's, MTS, and ghost shrimp in these tanks. So far my ghosties have done well in tank one, which now has a MATING pair of rainbow cichlids and fry in it as well. I know I'm pushing the boundaries somewhat, but we just don't have any more tank space and they are all getting along just fine (well, mom and dad Rainbow cichlid can't seem to agree on how to care for the fry, but everyone else is fine!). Those little ghosties are really hardy little rascals and just so cute. So if possible, I would love to have them in the HRP (honduran red point) tank -- or would the BN's do the bottom scavenging as well as the ghosties do??
