Hi
i currently have 5 10-20 gal tanks in a row. thay include tiger barbs, angels, platies, molllies, and groumies.(all in diff tanks).
would it be better to just put all of this in 1 big tank
thx in advance,
FT

Depending on numbers of each...I wouldn't put tiger barbs with angels or gouramis. They are fin nippers. The tiger barbs, platies and mollies could perhaps go together if you're not concerned about saving fry. I'm unsure about angels and gouramis, I've never had gouramis but I'm sure someone else can advise on that.

Keeping Angels and Gouramis together is kind of hit or miss usually. Depends on the temperament of each. I am currently keeping one Angel in a 55g with a Blue gourami and so far everything has gone well. In a big enough tank, I think it can be done. But I would get atleast a 40g depending on how many of each you have. 55g would be even better.

I agree with the post above, don't keep Tiger barbs with Angels. The Angels fins will be torn up.

ty i am going to keep the tiger barbs sep anyway
MY actualy questions is would it be cheaper to have 1 or 2 big tanks instead of like 7 small ones(ie 10 - 20 gals each):look:

I'm not sure if it would be cheaper necessarily but bigger is almost always better not just for room for fish but alot easier to maintain and keep stable. Your only recurring cost would be new filters but even those don't need replaced often.

Not to mention a whole lot better for the fish! Swimming room, more hiding spots, and territories. I agree with KJoFan. Go with the larger tanks!:)

I would say yes, it would be cheaper, because you would be running less filters, heaters, lights, etc.
