I want to order some fish online (drsfostersmith.com - the LFS's near me are all terrible) but I have one or two issues I need tor resolve first. My situation is this: I have an empty 10g tank right now, and I want to order one Blue Ram and one Dwarf Gourami to live in the tank.

1. The problem is, you need to order at least $30 worth of merchandise before they will ship to you. Is there anything else I can order that would live well in that tank along with the Blue Ram and the Gourami? Maybe like some raspboras or dannios? The problem is that those fish are pretty cheap, so I would have to buy like 5 or so to fill the minimum purchase requirement in order for them to ship.

I'm even considering getting two of the Glowlight Dannios, which I know are ridiculously overpriced at $7.99, just to fulfill the buying minimum and to not overstock my tank. What do you think? Maybe a cory or two? I really don't know what to do here.

2. So my second question is, is it worth ordering from there, since the shipping won't be cheap ($35!!), to ensure that I get healthy breeds of the fish that I want to keep? What do you think? Just looking for some input here, not asking you to make my decision for me.

Thanks, guys! Have a good one. :)

No one else has any advice?

Well first, about the glowlight danios, walmart has them for 4.99.. im planning on getting some in a few weeks

First off, Rams prefer to be in pairs. That may fill your thirty dollar issue. You should consider a bottom feeder/tank cleaner also. Maybe a small pleco, otos, or cory cats. I would also suggest you look at ****************. Good Luck!

I understand that I could probably get them cheaper, BUT I want to buy healthy fish, and like I said in my original post, my local fish stores and Wal-Mart's fish stock are really nasty and look unhealthy. I am asking you if it is worth the money to pay $65 for a pair of glowlight danios, a blue ram, and a dwarf gourami. And I know Rams like to be in pairs, but I only have a 10 gallon tank. I've ALWAYS wanted to own a Ram.

I know it's a lot of money for those fishes...but I dunno. I'm strongly considering doing it. Am I out of my mind, here?

Well I think you could get 2 rams if you dont get many more fish. What interests you about glowlight danios so much?

Well, really, they don't interest me all that much, haha. They are cart filler, meaning I would really only be getting them so that I can fulfill the minimum cart subtotal before that site can ship my order. I'm sure once I got them I would love them. Maybe I'll get two Rams. The problem is, I doubt I could get a "pair" from drsfostersmith.com. They would probably just send me two males. But that would still only be $20, and the minimum subtotal for them to ship is $30, so I'm $10 worth of merchandise short.

Why not find a local breeder? Join a local fish/aquarium organization or something and maybe attend one of their auctions. Or post on the wanted ads of the forum.

Edit: Forgot to mention that you can also try doing a group order with some people in your area and share shipping cost.
