i have two pieces of driftwood in my tank, specs are in my sig and immuh get another filter soon, what should I start out with? what do I need to get? do I really need to put ferts?
What kind of lighting do you have?
Tiger barbs (and barbs in general) will pick at certain plants.
The best thing I ever did for our (low light) planted tank was starting to dose Flourish Excel and Flourish Potassium. The results have been amazing and I wish I would have dosed those products from the start.

start out with java moss and java fern.
what kind of lighting do you have and how many watts is it? do you want to spend money on a nice lighting or do you want to do cheaper diy lighting?
if your going with low light plants there is no need to add ferts.

Java fern is a good one to start with. But remember to be patient because it is a slow grower.

I have a little over 2 WPG and I have Water Sprites and Moneywort growing very well in my tank. You could try those. Java moss and java fern should be pretty easy. Most of my fish love anacharis, so you might want to do a test piece before you buy a bunch of that type of plant.

I reccomend starting with java moss. it will form and nice carpet on the bottom, and cories just LOVE to hide in it! then, you could buy a java fern and an anuibias nana to attach to your driftwood.
how much light do you have over your tank? is it incandescent of flourescent?
