I've bought two Top Fin self-priming vacuums, and they both broke because they suck and they're cheap. I need a good brand for a tall 35g hex, a 50g, and a 75g. Any good recommendations?

PYTHON! theyre a couple bucks more but with the sink attachments they MORE than make up for the cost in ease-of-use. get yourself a 50-footer and you won't regret it.

I'll second the Python. Best invention for aquarium maintinance i've ever invested in. Also, they have gravel tubes available in lengths up to 72", so i'm sure you'll find one that fits your needs.
The Python is worth every cent! It saves you so much time!

I have both a python and a generic gravity fed siphon. Both work, but the python is the hands down favorite in convenience and overall ease of use. Well, unless of course you enjoy carrying buckets of water around. I mean at least that way you get some exercise I guess.

Wal-Mart is the place to get your Python, it is significantly cheaper than a LFS.

$26 at Petsmart with price matching for a 25 foot one...
Python. They're pretty cheap on eBay, but you can buy them at Petsmart and other like stores as well.

I don't have the correct faucet for the python to work properly, however, I do have just the gravity tube. Then I have a hose running direct to a drain, therefore I do not need to carry buckets of water.

I yet to see a faucet that you cannot use with The Python; some just need an additional adapter that is not included.

It's my kitchen faucet. It's doesn't work because it's one of those taps with the hose you can hold in your hand. Sort of like what you might have in your shower, but obviously a smaller version.

you can buy the adapter from Dr. foster and smith, as well as a nice hose clamp adapter that you can fit over just about anything that doesnt even NEED threaded connections, unless your water supply is via a 6" pipe, you should be ok. :)
edit: you don't have something that a 50 footer couldnt reach? heck, you could get a 25 and 50 footer, or even 2 50 footers and theyre all connectable!

Cheapest way to do it is stick your fingers in the gravel and stir it around, and then come back with a fish net and try to catch all the debris.... LOL

For that matter you can buy them in lengths uo to 100 feet. Or 20 foot extensions. Whatever it takes.
