Live Sand and Skimmer Question....

I just added 20lbs of live sand to my 100gal tank to seed the prior substrate. If I understand correctly, the LS has a bunch of biological organisms in it. Wouldn't these organisms be pulled out with the skimmer running, or am I thinking too deep on this?

NO, the skimmer will not remove them as it skims from the surface usually, removing proteins etc etc ( skimmate ) out of the water..

a skimmer will pull them out. however, most of the organisms are not very far off the sand bed to get sucked up. some will get sucked up and removed, but much much more will stay.
