He used to swim all around the tank. Only a few days after adding the cories, however, he has soon lost interest in them and mostly hangs out by himself, either in his little cave or among the floating plants. Poor betta doesn't like to share:huh:

bettas have no interest in other fish they can't eat.

He's just a little stressed because of the new fish. Give him some time to get used to it. When I first put my green betta in a 10 gallon and added newcomers he would kind of sit in the corner, but in a few days he was swimming around the tank with his fish friends.

Not nesecarily true. One of my bettas (the green one) (in community tank) does not bother (meaning has no interest) in the smaller fish, he just likes to hang around the tank, swimmin' 'round. One of my other bettas (in community tank) has interest in all fish - bigger or smaller.

when I made that statement, I was reffering to peaceful bettas.

My bettas are rather peaceful:confused:
they will have interest, but usually it's just mild, and passes with time. they generally mind their own business, she sounded like she was expecting them to be buddy-buddy with her cories, that's why I said that.

New concerns

Actually, I wasn't expecting him to be buddy-buddy. But I would like him back to his old self. Now however, I'm concerned he may be sick again. Some of you may remember my concern over what I thought might be constipation a few weeks ago. Distended stomach, floating uncontrollable on his side behind the tank heater or filter intake, and curling upside down inside the cave were some of his symptoms. I fasted him a few days, tried to feed him a pea (which he ignored), and waited until he was better before adding the cories. Today, he seems to be exhibiting more symptoms of constipation. I've been feeding him every other day since the 'big poop,' and not all that much, either. I fed him just now, and he only ate two pellets. Usually, he will gobble up whatever I give him. I pray it's not dropsy; there's no pineconing, though I know it's something you have to treat early. Do you think it could be the food? He's been eating the same brand since I got him (over a year ago).
