Well, it was good ol' evening feeding time for the fishies and I went ahead and grabbed the container of Wardley Tropical food off the shelf. Oh, but Wardley is too cool to put screw on lids on their containers... so of course, it came loose and I ended up turning my tank into a fish food snowglobe. Just spent the last 15 minutes scooping out as much as I could. Couple big vacuums tomorrow I guess. God I hate that :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: :mad2:

happened to me once when i had a container of Hagen's Nutrafin Max flake food, except i knocked it off the tank and onto the floor. now that i have switched to the more expensive Omega One flakes, i'll be more careful. so far, i taken the extra step of opening the safety seal just a little bit instead of ripping the whole thing off so if it does fall, won't be too much food spilling out.

try and get as much of that food as possible and do those water changes, your fish probably were gorging themselves in it!

haha, I was like lightning; ripped off the light and lid, and scooped like ive never scooped before. I got most of it out, the filter sucked in a bunch and the rest floated to the bottom for the cories to eat (they are not getting an algae disk tonight lol). But liek I said, I'll vacuum it all out tomorrow.

Uh huh.....blame the container....sounds like operator error to me!

Once my dog jumped up and took all the cans of fish food and somehow screwed off the tops and ate them. Tons of tiny flakes ended everywhere and the dog had diarrhea. Just a note, don't feed pets shrimp pellets.

I use my bathroom counter top to put the amount in a little measuring cup, or carry it to the tank in the lid only. I keep the main bottle several feet away, knowing me!

Bleh, I remember how messy it was trying to cycle with pinches of fish food. Best wishes on that.

Ditto on doing the water changes now instead of later. It is unbelievable how much food really is in the water when something like this happens. If you wait till morning or later then that you risk the water quality going bad really fast. I would be doing the water change right now actually.

yea, only one prob is that I'm in a dormitory and don't have that luxury. Like I said, I got 90% of it out (it really wasnt that much to begin with, was a .5oz container and only about .1 oz fell in, and I got most of it). I'll do the changes tomorrow after classes.

i'd do a 200% water change.
