I have a good layer of algae side panels of my 5g Eclipse. I was scraping it off with a credit card for a while but it has gotten ahead of me. The potential of scratching the plastic scares me. Will those magnetic cleaners they sell at the pet store work? If not, what?
Merci

I use a plastic pot scrubber I got from the dollar store. It's not too abrasive. I used a razor on a long handle and found it left scratch marks so I only use it in extreme cases now.

A fine-tooth comb works wonders for thread and staghorn algae.

best way i found to get rid of it, get a few live plants established in the tank and all the nutrients the algae is eating get sucked up. That any maybe a little algae eater like an ottocinclus (sp)

They make many acrylic safe scrapers out there. One i know is a White Algae Pad. Thatpetplace.com has them for about 2.99. I am sure you can find something about the same maybe cheaper at a local store. But they should mention on the packaging that it is acrylic safe.
