I have a blue ram in a 20 long community with 6 b. skirt and 6 serpae tetra. he's been in two weeks and is looking great compared to the dull grey he started at. beginning to get a little color on his fins. they have been peaceful the whole time (2 weeks). i began to worry b/c at feeding time the serpae and bs. go to the top when they see me coming and attack the top of the tank with the first flake or dried b. worm. they are not aggressive towards him they are just so fast they eat it up before he can get any. leaving him to pick the rocks for crumbs.they dont leave many because the eat like pirannah. i bought him some bottom feeder sinking shrimp pellets today. when i dropped them in the serpae and b. skirt were bouning them on there noses like a seal does .they wouldn't even let them sink. they could not eat b/c they were not soft yet. when they became soft he let them know they were his. b.skirt let them alone but serpae tried to eat and he chases and rams them. kinda of funny there are 6 of them against 1 . he ain't skeered. has anyone seen a ram do this?this is my first ram i don't know much about them.

I bought four Bolivian rams, and they were the same way for the first week or so. I bought some sinking chiclid food. The black skirts will still go after it, but the rams can hold their own now. What I do is feed flakes or floating food first, then when all the fish are up at the top, I feed the sinking food.
