There's a place called Fish Gallery and Pets in Renton that I go to a lot. Their fish are in pretty good shape, and they have a very wide selection, especially of Rift Lake and CA cichlids.

For certain selected species, however, I go to a place called B&D Aquarium in White Center (a neighborhood in West Seattle). The shop is small and selection is somewhat limited, but they are very rigorous about quarantining their fish (it's the ONLY store I'll buy cardinal and rummynose tetras from, for example). They also get occasional shipments of relatively rare fish, such as Semaprochilodus taeniurus and some interesting plecos as well. Oh, and if you like Irianjaya rainbows, he always has a beautiful selection on hand. For all this, however, he is not cheap. Still, well worth a visit.

Hope this helps.

I know this is old but thought I would Chime in. I have bought all my cichlids from B&D including jack dempseys, oscars, texas cichlid etc.... they are awesome there. The guy doesn't look like a "business" man but they know there stuff.

Another great store for cichlids is in Bellevue. They have a huge selection and could probably order for you if they don't have it.

its called:

Is there any good public aquarium worth visiting between Seattle ad Vancouver? I will be taking a vacation in the northwest and like to check out some public aquarium.

HI,

Seattle has an aquarium that is located on the water front. Its mostly Marine life. Here is there webstie with a list of exhibits, feeding times, prices etc.

I also assume you mean Vancouver B.C. ? not Vancouver, WA ?

If so they have an awesome Aquarium there and I would go to that one over the Seattle one. Vancouver is only a 2 hour drive from Seattle and worth the trip.
