Hi all...I just got over a bout of Ich my new Platy's brought home. I treated with Jungle's Ich Clear for 5 straight days (had to halve the dose for the Catfish) and there has been no sign of any spots for 2 days in a row so I consider it gone.

Do I have to change out the water one last time? Iwas doing 25% water changes each night before doing the next dose. Was wondering if I should just put in a new carbon filter and wait till my next water change is due in a week or should I change it out one more time? (Can you tell I'm not in the mood to do a change again tonight? Hoping I can just leave it I've had enough water changes this week ARGH!) Thanks!

Change it tomorrow, TeaPea "You deserve a break today." Sounds like you whipped the thing!

BTW, AmQuel binds and detoxifies many medicinal dyes etc. (It would also make medication ineffective, if it were already in the water at the beginning of the treatment-- one of those unconsidered problems that bedevil people with too many additives constantly in their water.) So give the tank a dash of AmQuel now if it's in your cupboard.

One reason for the water changes, BTW, is that it's to no purpose to continue low-level stress to fish kidneys from a medication that's no longer strong enough to eliminate the parasite.

Thanks wetman :D

I do deserve a break today...(why does that make me want to eat a hamburger)?

Should I put in a new carbon cartridge tonight or wait until after I do the water change tomorrow? (I haven't been using the carbon carts since I finished cycling, I have two spongy things in there instead but I purchased new cartridges for this purpose)
