I'm sure this topic has been covered many times over but I thought I would throw my 2 cents in. I had a case of red slime creep about 10 days ago. I resisted medicating for fear that my inhabitants might be ill effected. The red slime was bugging me big time so I relented and purchased a product called "Red Slime Remover" by UltraLife Reef Products, Derby, CT. I premixed the prescribed amount in a container with tank water and dosed the tank. It worked very well with no ill effect to fish and coral. I performed my normal water change 4 days later. 1 caveat: I dosed minus the amount of tank water displaced by my live rock. I have a 47G. I dosed at 30G. The slime was on the decline within 24 hours and disappeared within 48 hours completely. So far, so good. It has not returned. I have read that water flow is paramount to keeping the slime away. I agree that water ciurculation is most important but the slime in my tank was worst in the exhaust area of a 800GPH power head.
