Here is an older picture of my gravel. I am slowly starting to plant. I am staying with strictly low maintenace plants for now. My problem is that I don't think my gravel is tight enough to keep the plants from floating to the top.

I've decided to add a small type of gravel to what I already have to maybe fill in some of the gaps. I want to add black, but I'm not sure it will look good.

Should I add white, brown or black??

You may want to try the traditional plant weight strips until the plants get rooted real well. The gravel you have should be fine, but of course, a finer, smaller gravel is better. I have the same size gravel and the plants rooted better than expected. If you want to add gravel, maybe now would be a good time to select a smaller size. Brown is more natural than black, if that is what you are going for.

I have no idea what those are. :duh:

they're little lead strips roughly 1/8" wide by 2" long that you wrap around the base of the plant to help hold the bunch together as well as weight them down. you may have had some on your anarcharis when you bought it.

Nope. All i got was a rubberband. I'll check those out.

You can bury something like that?

:dance2: I'm not sure I have enough gravel to cover it. I'll give it a try.
