Will this setup work? This is a new planted tank. 20 gal. with 35 watts of light. I will use root tabs and a product called FloraPride made by Tetra. Is this ok? Your opinons are welcomed. I am new to plants so any help is welcomed too. Thanks.

List the plants please.

The sword will probably perish, but the rest sound good I think.

You only have 1.5 watts per gallon of lighting there, so I would not use any kind of fertilizer unless the plants show signs of deficiency. It's easy to over fertilize a low-light tank and end up with a bad algae problem.

Why did you go so deep with the gravel?

Someone said it was a good idea to have at least three inches of gravel with plants. Should I take some out? at what depth should the gravel be?

“FloraPride® promotes the growth of floating and rooted aquatic plants through a combination of nutrients including potassium and iron. FloraPride® is a vital compliment to substrate fertilizers as part of a complete plant care program. FloraPride® does not contain phosphates or nitrates.”

I think you might want to use about half the recommended dosage of that and start adding Flourish Excel according to the bottle directions.
