I bought some Aquarisol, and I am planning to add it to the tank when I do my next water change. My tank has been cycling for two weeks with a Betta, and I'm afraid the Aquarisol may kill the beneficial bacteria. I was wondering if I can add it while I am cycling, or if I should wait.

does your betta have parasites or are you simply adding Aquarisol for the 'heck of it'?

I haven't seen any parasites, but its suppose to prevent them and I have heard good things about it, so I thought it it would be a good idea to add it, but I wanna make sure its ok.

if you don't *need* it, you shouldn't add it.

I have heard good things about it lemme guess ... your LFS recommended it right?
if your fish do not have parasites, do NOT treat them for parasites. using medications is not to be taken lightly. they're in many cases, harsh drugs which 'can' lead to (a) stressed fish and (b) parasite resistance to drug treatment.

I had heard it from bettatalk (I would never trust LFS advice on medications.) I will not add Aquarisol. Good thing it was only 3 dollars. Thanks for the help. Happy fishkeeping!

Aquarisol is a rather good anti-parasitic medication, but it's mostly only found locally on the west coast. I use it as my medicative alternative to the salt/temp treatment for ich, and it works well. There is no need to add it to the tank as a preventative, but it's handy to have if you get an outbreak of Ich or Velvet.

BettaFix is more common here, like mela/pimafix, but marketed specifically for bettas.
