SHould i run a sponge in my filter or just the carbon and these other little pellet thingys which i don't know what they are? I have a ten gallon with a bit of coral and heard the sponge makes nitrates.
 
i personaly dont use the spounges or the filters. i just have an empty HOB filter with a media bag of carbon and phosban. that way you dont trap anything but you still have the chemical filtration.
 
How big is your tank? I have a 10 gallon with no filter. I have a powerhead that pumps 140 GPH and 15 lbs of LR for my filtration.

i also have a 10 gallon with about 15 pounds live rock and 2 powerheads that pump 80 gph each. I just wanted the filter for a little extra flow and to use if i wanted to run carbon in it.
