i just have a few quick questions about overflows,

am i right in saying that the air outlet tube on top of the inverted u part (that goes over the top of the tank) can be connected to a powerhead to remove any build up of air (and also make it start automatically once the powerhead starts)

also do i need one that can siphon 5x (or more) the amount of water in my system which is going to be roughly 100 uk gallons including the sump.

does anybody recommend a certain make/model, ive seen an aqua medic one which looks good but is around £180 (http://www.swelluk.com/aquarium/aqu...-overflow-boxes-type1-2-2500-5000lph-459.html)

and this schuran one (http://www.thecoralgarden.co.uk/pro...d=516&osCsid=6ce613907facc0a4ae9e23f0a3773836)
which is more than half the price, why is there such a big difference in price.

thats about it, thanks.

Hiya fellow UK reefer...he he he

Yes, your correct, take a length of tube and put a tap in it...you know, one of them little plastic turn jobby's...connect one end to the inverted U and the other to a powerhead..

Prices vary in the UK for overflow boxes..The schuran types are usually cheaper because they are more of a cut down version i think...If your looking to buy one, i have a schuran type one rated at 2800 lph that you could buy off me if your interested..

P.S Where abouts in the UK are you from?

Not sure if you can get one of these or not in the U.K., but I use an Aqualifter AW-20 model dosing pump on my overflow. It ran about $11.00 U.S.

When I used the powerhead, I got a lot of micro bubbles in the display tank. Not saying that you will too, but just in case, there's an alternative.

I have a cpr cs102 with dual 1" outlets. I wouldn't recommend it because it can be noisy as heck. Also, it can't run without a pump hooked up because it won't hold a siphon. If I had to do over, I'd opt for a regular siphon tube model.

Good luck and you're in good hands with Niko. He's helped me a lot and knows his stuff.
