basically last night at 5 am i brought home a oscar from my friends house. it was in such bad conditions its hardly still moving. it was in like a 30 g, with half the water filled. dead fish laying in there decaying. it hasnt been fed forever. i got water params in check. im doing everyting i can to save this fish. its barley moving and just kinda sitting there. i cliped brine shrimp and put it on the bottem where is is laying. it wont touch it. im about to go get some live fish. what all can i do?

don't get any live fish. here's the problem: "feeder fish" are almost always maintained at your LFS in very overcrowded tanks with poor water quality. they're not fed a nutritious diet, almost always harbour numerous pathogens and parasites and are thus in very poor condition.
if you feed these to your healthy fish at home, your fish will contract one or more of these pathogens and parasites. moreover, since these feeders are not fed very well, they contain very little nutritional value for your fish.

the best food for your oscar is a varied diet consisting of various quality pellets manufactured by such as Hikari, OSI and others. freeze dried krill, earthworms obtained from you garden (never from an area treated with pesticides or fertilizers), crickets, grubs and other "live" foods that you find yourself are also good.

sounds like this fish has had a rough time .. of course it's not eating. it may be too far gone already. what size tank have you put it in and is it cycled? get those shrimp out of there .. if he hasn't eaten them yet, they'll only rot and pollute the water.

How are the fins? Any damage? Signs of HITH?

idk while i was out i already got the feeder fish, they just swim right past him and he doesnt move. i think hes too far gone. its too bad....i stayed up all night for nothing. hes in my 125g. he was in the worst tank i had seen in my life.

You would be surprised what oscars can pull out of. Keep the tank warm, clean and add some stress coat. I Had one that was floating upside down pull through.

melafix?

If you want to feed him live foods, you might consider breeding your own platies or guppies. THey are like rabbits!! If I didn't have my bettas to eat the fry of my platties, they'd have taken over the tank by now!

^^thanks, right now i just want him to make it thru. i got the tank at about 78, should i go higher? what would be best to get him to eat? worms? and whats this melafix? please explain. thanks, i just want him to pull thru after i pulled an all nighter and messed my tank all up for him.

hope he survives

hope u realise if he does he's going to take over!
Here is to softies!:coffee2:
