Hey my name is Justin and I grew up with an aquarium but not until recently have I gotten back into it. I have a 10 gallon tank with 2 baby black moors and 2 zebra danios. I already have a question I don't know if I should put it in here or in the specific section that it goes in. So I'll just start here. When I started this aquarium earlier this month i had 2 black moors. Last thursday night (1/25) I notice that they were acting strange. they started to secrete their protective slime and it was too late to get something from the pet shop so i was got up early the next morning to get something for them because i think it was Costia but i don't know for sure. They died after testing my water the pH was low as well as the water was a little too hard. I just bought the fish listed above on friday and they have been doing great. I am just worried about the danios...one is more passive then the other so the other one picks on or bullies him. The danio has to just sit in the same corner next to the aerator. I don't know what to do b/c i don't have a quarantine tank to place the bully in. Any suggestions?
get a few more zebras to reduce the pecking order. Those black moors will probably get too big for that tank. Mine live in a pond and are about 6-7in.

Really they will get too big...i thought goldfish grew according to the size of their tank. I know the maximum size for a black moor is 8 inches but i was just assuming that they wouldn't get that big unless they were in a pond or something. If that isn't true should i just stick with the traditional goldfish? Getting more zebras wouldn't crowd the tank too much would it? Also do the danios really help with the bacteria?
danios are good for fish-cycling b/c they are hardy. this can speed up bacteria colonies. I would get a few more zebras and find a bigger home for the black moors. ive got several goldfish in my pond from people that though the same thing

so is it not true that some goldfish grow to the size of their tank?
some goldfish just stay smaller due to bad conditions and bad health. I could live in my closet, but it sure would suck. Comets and a few others dont grow as large but be careful b/c they arent always well taken care of.

Welcome to AC!
Recommend you start a detailed post on your situation, along with questions, in the coldwater section. Y ou will get plenty of advice and help.

Welcome to AC! :hi: No goldfish wont grow to the size of there tank they will be stunted at a smaller size do to bad water conditions and will die an early death. In ten gallons I imagine they will die of ammonia poisoning first. Also zebra daino's are tropical fish and goldfish are coolwater and really shouldn't be mixed.

Welcome to AC! Its good to see someone else from Alabama on here. :) I don't usually see people from here on fish sites.
I agree with the post above. If you can't get a bigger tank for the goldfish (30g might be fine for just your 2 Moors), I'd just return them to the pet store and get more danios. 6 or so Danios should be fine in a 10g.
Here are a couple websites on cycling that you should read so you'll know what is going on in your tank:
