base rock

When you say base rock, what kind of base rock is it?

If its live rock gone dead you will need to cure it seperatly in either another tank or rubbermaid container with a powerhead and heater for about 4 weeks..

Before starting it off to cure, give it a real good scrub in some old tank water and wash off in old tank water, then............................................wait !!!

Hope this helps mate

definitely not dead LR or LR of any other kind, it was on the LFS shelf, and they said it is used as base rock in marine. I have posted some pics, let me know what you think..

thanks mate, what i might do is wash it with fresh water and soak in some saltwater. i dont think i will get any ammo/nit spike because there is no critters onit.

i know there is a vinegar test for rock and sand....i did put it on my last post, but removed it after as i not 100% sure after i posted...It is to do with the chemical reaction to vinegar...i.e does it bubble...cant quite remember which way round it is....Bubbles its ok, or does not bubble is ok....hmmmmmmm

Looks good enough to place right in your tank ( on the bottom with LR on the top). Just rinse first if there is any type of sediment in the holes of the base rock.
