I saw the coolest watchman goby today ! Wish I had a camera to take his pic....
I had a Dr. appt today so took the day off work. Afterward I paroosed the lfs in my area for something to do. Came to one of the better ones which has many sw setup....fo, reef, fowlr...you name it.
In thier big reef tank they had this goby I had never seen before..it was white with black markings here and there and also some tiny spots. I asked one of the employees about it and he said..."it's a yellow watchman....it had an accident and lost it's lower jaw....nobody wanted to buy it....after a bit it lost it's coloring too. We put it in this tank here because he won't sell and we like him" It's a 180 reef...beautiful tank.
Anyway....this fish was the prettiest white with black stripe markings where you can see darker bars on a normal yellow watchman...along with all the little spots. It was missing it's lower jaw but didn't look too bad and I saw it snatching something to eat off the sand. It looked well fed and healthy and if I didn't already have my little nano reef fully stocked...."I" would have bought him !!
I don't know if loosing his color was a result of the stress of the injury it suffered or not, but it sure looked healthy and well as it was. I really need to take my camera with me next time I visit that store......
