My new 46g tall african tank...

Well here's my tank, I have 2 lemon yellows, a elecric blue(I think), and a crossbreed that I bought because I thought he looks really cool(you can see it in the picture). Also I have an albino pleco, eel cat, and a birchir. You can see the birchir in the bottom left corner of the tank just hanging out.

I need to add some rocks and such, I want somthing that is going to draw the fish more to the top of the tank. I might possibly do one of those foam and concrete walls on the back of the tank. Anyways, any suggestions?

For filtration I have a penguin 200 biowheel and a jebo canister filter.
 
Wow when they say tall they really mean it... Black background and some nice tall stem plants would look really good here, or foam instead of the black like you said.

LOL I was thinking the same thing.

I used to have fish like your blue one when I had africans. I had a Johanni and a Maingano. I think you have the Johanni. They both look similar I think there is a difference in the way the blue fish has stripes and in many cases they will just be labeled as Johanni. It is possible they are the same fish and I guess it depends on the internet site you go to.

Do search in yahoo for MELANOCHROMIS MAINGANO and JOHANNI. I think this is your fish.

The electric blue has different striping and I used to think I had a Demonsi when I first bought mine. It took me a while to figure out I did not.
 
Wow- that's the tallest non-hex tank I've ever seen! Must be a space saver...I could use that. Great looking unique tank!
 
Very interesting looking tank...I wonder if one of those preformed plastic rock wall internal backgrounds, turned 90 degrees, would fit in there with a little adapting?
 
I had an imaginative idea at work today, I was looking at my reciept holder with the spike that you push the reciepts onto and I had an idea. I am thinking of having some sort of flat base rock, drill a hole in it with a masonry bit, and put some kind of aluminum or plastic dowel into the hole maybe 2 feet long or so and epoxy it. Then get other flat shale-like rocks and drill holes in them and place them on the dowel. It would make a sort of tower that I would put in one of the back corners of the tank, it could have a few shelves that stick out and overhang a few inches into the middle of the tank. then maybe put a couple plants on or around it. I might try this out this weekend.
