hey guys one of my tanks has a very small leak at the top, which normally wouldnt be a problem at all to me except for the fact that the sea salt is running down the side making it look very poor. I was wondering if anyone knew of any type of solution? i was thinking something maybe along the lines of a type of putty? Again, the leak is very small and it is in the brim of my tank.

I would suggest aquarium silicone. Is it from a crack that could grow larger or where your glass meets the brim? What direction does it go in...horizontal/vertical..?
 
Please be sure it is an actual crack and not salt creep. When my sister first started a salt tank, she believed the top had a crack and proceeded to silicone the entire top lip and it looked awful. Turned out it was simply salt creep that she hadn't kept up with.
 
well, there is a tan idn what to call it "brim" that runs across the top of my tank and it seems the water is getting inbetween where it meets the glass and dripping down, but i do not no for sure it is a crack, just assumed. How would i be able to tell if it was just salt creep?
 
tank is not new, about 8 years old, was previously a plant tank with a couple of neons, when i cleaned it and prepared it for SW i took the brim off to make sure i got everything clean, then i put the brim back on but im not 100% sure if the brim was supposed to come off. (the brim did come off very easily though i didnt have to force it at all)
 
Hmmm. Maybe you can put some of the silicone under the brim and then reattach it.

Or perhaps slightly drop your water level down.
 
where would i get the silicone? LFS?
 
I just bought some last week from Petco. My LFS has it too though.
