What materials from home depot would you need for a Dyi lighting hood?

is this for plants or just for you to see your fish?
both ways i would just go with power compact screw in bulbs. they have them as low as 10w and as high as 42w or so i have been told.

are u startin from scratch? or do u hav a hood tht u will be guttin and addin new lights to? ahsupply has pretty cheap diy lights, might be something u want to look into.
i have a 10 gallon. but the first time i built a hood for it, i bought from home depot, when i "upgraded" and went to ahsupply i actually spent LESS even with bulbs. and with their super quick shipping i get things in less than 3 days.
I'm starting from scratch. Its a tank with my platys that i breed, with plants (corkscrew vals. and java moss).
