Hi,

I have a 72 gal reef aquarium, with 15 gal sump, and a Euro CS8-1 as the only filtration. It had an oversized Gen-X 6000 pump, which was way too loud, so I replaced it with a Sedra 5000.

I am very happy now with the noise (there is almost none), but I am starting to worry that having an undersized pump is mistake.

The water flow through the skimmer seems about right, and the water is pretty milky, but the foam doesn't make it all the way up the column.

Its been less than 24 hours since the switch, so maybe the inside of the new pump and plumbing has to cycle, in the same way a new skimmer has to cycle.

Anyway, is there anyone who knows about this issue? (the pump is undersized by one level, according to the Euro website - it is meant for a 6" diameter skimmer).

Thanks!
