I have 2 in my 30G and 1 in my 18G and there are batched of eggs in the hoods of both tanks. Will the single one in the 18G fertilise its own eggs? i asume like normal snails they are hermathrodytes (spelling?) and are the babies easy too look after and raise to adult hood? as this could mean eatra algae eaters! yay. (i have an algae problem)

Apple snails are either female or male, so self-fertilization is not possible. HOWEVER female snails can store sperm for months so it is possible she may of been fertilized in the LFS.

Laid eggs are not always fertilized and for some reason first clutches usually turn out to be duds. If it stays an even light pink colour it is a dud. Darkens and turns grey it is fertilized.

Snails are not difficult to raise, but a large brood can really effect water quality. Unless you have the space to grow them out, id flush the clutch.
