i'd seen them out of town and on the web so i asked my lfs to order some. they came in and i was a little disappointed because they were almost white. but she brought them in as a favor so i bought them anyway. so for a month they were pretty much the same. kind of timid and pale. but in the last week they are starting to get a nice yellow color and are getting much more aggressive on food. going after ghost shrimp and nightcrawlers as well as their usually frozen stuff. they are even pushing tiger barbs out of the way for the bigger flake chunks.
moral of the story: if the fish are dull when you first get them, dont give up.

now what kind of flake /pellet should i get since they are willing to stop being frozen [bloodworm and mysis shrimp] snobs?

i picked up some floating pellet but they dont want to go to the surface. the flake they are stealing now is just the lfs bulk bin generic.

I would go for a Hikari brand they have proven to be very good for my plecos and especially my Jag she has gotten more color since I started feeding her Hikari Gold Pellets.

I have a pair about 5" long. They have great colors especially durning spawning. I feed mine hikari floating pellets. They go to the surface and feed.

found out why the nicaraguans were so frisky. my heater drifted up to 82 degrees. irritated the puffer but the nica's seemed to love it.
