View Full Version : can any plants live in salt water???

at least for a week or two??? i want to put some plants in with my brine shrimp that im trying to grow out, what will work?? i have hornwort, anacharis, rangeri sword, narrow leaf chain sword, and a. ulvaceus.... or if none of those will work, ill try to get a different plant...

One of the very few plants that have made the transition to seawater is eelgrass, Zostera But you won't be able to grow it indoors.

All the other plant-like marine "greens" are actually algae-- even huge kelp.

so do you think if i put some hornwort in the jar with the bbs it will die right away or do you think it will live for a while?? cuz i want it to suppy oxygen and to help with the ammonia etc...

It might not rot right away but it will do nothing for the water quality because it will not be producing oxygen or sucking up nutrients. It will just sit there at best and eventually die and pollute your water.
