I'm thinking of buying in some juvenile JDs for my electric blue breeding project and I'm trying to work out what size i can sex them at. Anyone with dempsey breeding experience who can help me out here?

you should be able to look at them at a fairly young/small age. Two inches should be big enough to determine the difference. I have found that the easiest way to tell is by looking at its gillplate. If there is a lot of blue on the lower portion of it, then it is a female. If not, then its a male. Hope that helps, but let me know if you have other questions. Good luck with the EBJD project!
