I have been taking my time getting all the parts to the soon to be SW tank.
It will start out as a FOWLR (after it cycles) with the intent to make it a reef tank.
100 gallon with 20 gallon refugium.
after I spent months getting the parts..it was finally time to set up the new tank..it had been drilled for overflow(1 1/2") and return(1").,.it is plumbed with PVC external..
Finally after fitting the tank it was time for the dry run running submersible quiet 6000) with skimmer.
I began filling the tank..so far so good..it's filled..no leaks detected.I started up the pumps running for a couple minutes..then the muffled splash of a drip of water..I found the drip and began checking the plumbing..no leaks(I apprenticed under my dad who was a plumber) ..I traced the dripping..it appears to be leaking from the plumbing..but on further inspection it was coming from the corner where the stand and tank were exposed..I quickly drained the tank(well as quick as you can drain a 110). as it was draining I found what appeared to be spots in the silicone where the seal was not formed correctly..
it took two tries at stripping the leaky area and resealing, filling..detecting new areas of leaks..and resealing but it looks good tonight.(crossing fingers and toes) so far 2 hrs no leaks..
if it works..it's drain refill with ro water then setting the salinity..
