with your low coral load, reef crystals will work great.
oceanic is good, but i have found that it is rather inconsistent as far as it's levels.
the proreef is the best salt there, but you dont need it for your tank. not until you get a very large Ca, ALK, Mg, etc load, which could be never unless you do sps.

can u tell me what is the best test kit and easy 2 do. i have the ca,alk test kit but is mad hard 2 understand the one i have is hard 2 make need one the is easy i can post pic if u want me 2 show u can u send me pic 2 see what is good

why are you so picture oriented? lol. you can jsut tell us the brands.
salifert makes really good test kits, although some people do find them confusing. nutrafin seems to be pretty accurate and is very easy to understand.

just go into the catolouge and either look under the test kits or search any of the brand names someone gives you.
same thing for your test kits, pictures arent needed, if you say a brand, someone is bound to know what it is.

people tend to shy away from it because of the old formula, but the new stuff is fantastic.
but thats just like, myopinion man.
I just somewhat recently changed from the oceanic to the reef crystals and wish I had done it sooner.
Just don't use Instant Ocean.
That stuff killed my tank once and they had to reimburse me almost a grand CDN in lost livestock.

Just don't use Instant Ocean.

Dr. Randy Holmes Farley also requested a sample and confirmed it was bad. The company then asked for a list of my damages, I itemized everything in an email to them and after speaking to the guy on the phone (who was REALLY nice) they mailed me a check. I was quite happy how they handled it, actually. It's also cool to know they read the message boards. Even Kent was reading my thread, as an assistant to Mr. Kent told me in a post or PM, I can't remember which.

Oceanic Natural Sea Salt is the one I used before. It seemed to work fine. But I believe it has other components, like calcium. You might not want those added extras if a certain stable level of them is important.

i do agree with what you are saying atnixon, but we do need to have both good points and bad to help us deicide. Specialy if you are newbie. I know we can use other peoples opinions to, like i did, when i changed other to reef crystals.

I've been using the Tropic Marin in my reef tank for a year and a half now with great results.

tropic marine and reef crystals are the top brands in the industry and natural sea water while the best can cause some major problems depending where u live and is sometimes more work to cure. some people arnt even near an ocean. in 15 mins away from the beach but ill never use the water.

Germanman - I also live near a beach (about 2 min) but i will never use natural sea water, my comment was more of a joke. Although I would like to test it for SG, ammo ect ect. Just out of curiosity, and see what the readings where.
Those were some interesting links you both posted- very informative.
Omega- I skimmed through that thread on RC...I can't believe how many others came forward or found your thread through a google search after having the same issues. Looks like they never confirmed or denied yet seemed willing to reimburse for any losses.
