Introducing baby mollies back in tank

I have 12 baby mollies about a month old. I caught them and put them in a floating breeder box to keep them safe. Now they are about 1/2 to 3/4 inches long and I want to release them back into the tank. I tried this yesterday but they all stayed up near the top and near the box. Some explored their surroundings, some seemed to want back in the box.
This morning they were clustered near the box which holds one tiny baby guppy that I could not release. I have caught all of them and returned them to the box. Now what? Should I buy a small aquarium for them only or should I move the box with the baby guppy to my smaller 20 gal where I keep neon tetras? With the floating box removed from my big tank would the babies be more apt to explore and acclimate within their larger environment?

Yeah. You shouldn't put them back into the tank with bigger mollies until they are an inch long, or there is still risk they could get eaten or nipped at. I'd buy them a 15 gallon to keep them in.

yeah, set up a fry tank exclusively for raising the babies, or maybe just get a 2nd breeder box. they're still snack size at this point.
