Decor for my nursery tank?

Hi,

I'm setting up a nursery tank at the moment for my pregnant platies. What do you recommend I put in there in terms of gravel and decor? I presume the fry will naturaly want to hide - but I naturally want to watch them grow!:dance2:
 
IME with molly fry, they only hide for a couple of days. During this time, I kept them in the net breeder with some floating plants. When I put them into their own tank however, they were quite happy with 1 small decorative barrely thing and some live plants. They take up all the space in the tank and do not seem stressed at all.

I'm not sure if platys will eat their own babies as mollys do if left with them after the first hour or so. If so, make sure to take mom out after she's had her babies!
 
or hornwort - costs less than java moss, grows quickly and easily, and provides a lot of hiding places.

no gravel - it's just a poop/food trap, and if it's too big fry can get trapped in it too.

I am planning to do this, my only fears are that they will give birth just after I've gone to work and that one will give birth much earlier than the other so I will be left with the dilemma of whether to leave the one that's still pregnant in with the fry...
 
If the worst case scenario happens, and they do give birth while you're at work, there's no way they would even be able to eat a quarter of the fry! Say you got 40 fry per female, you'd still have 30 or so left when you got home.

thats what i was thinking of...im not to good with plants yet lol. i was gonig to put a second plant next to java moss but i kept thinking anarchis.
