Do cories need caves? I have 2 albino's that I had in a tank with Tiger Barbs. I had a cave in there and the cories stayed in there most of the time. I've put the tiger barbs in a bigger tank and put the cave in the new tank for the SAE that I have in there. Now one of the cories seem to go crazy especially when I turn the light on. Is a cave neccessry?

Have no idea if it is necessary. May just depend on the tank mates. But I do know mine like to ball up in nooks and crannys, but not in English Muffins...

The only thing with them now is a handfull of guppies. I'll try putting something like a cave back in to see if it helps. They have some bog wood in there that they could get around or under but they don't seem too. I like finally being able to see them.

I had a thread about this a while back. Basically, Corys don't need caves, unlike some other fish, but no fish likes to feel "exposed". That's why it always helps to have backgrounds and hiding places. Personally, my tank has enough plants to provide the Corys (as well as my guppies) with natural cover/shade, so I don't have any caves.

I provide mine with some PVC pipes to hide in, but they prefer to swim all around in a school instead of my homemade creation. They seem to prefer the dense fake plant forest I also provide.

MY tank has a few caves and many plants for cover. My cories are always far too busy doing cory stuff to stay in a cave for any period of time. Even in the morning when I find them all resting togetehr, they are in the frontof the tank in the only open patch of ground there is.
