My father is a smoker..Ever since I was a kid, I knew that he smoked..Right now, he is diagnosed with lung cancer..If you are a smoker now, think about your life and is it worth it to smoke and die... :(He is very uncomfortable now..:(

I lost my dad to lung cancer, was a hard short fight. was diagnosed and passed 7 weeks later. barely smoked, i guess it was enough. This was only 15months ago....

Wish you luck.
My best mate's dad died from lung cancer when I was a kid, but he never smoked. Turned out to be due to him working in shipyards when he was young.
Another family friend had a lung removed and is still living strong now. Oddly he never smoked either!
Enjoy the time now, go on family holiday's and make the most of what's left.

Sorry to hear about that. This sort of thing scares the living crap out of me.
I smoked two packs a day for 18 years. Quit three years ago. Hope it doesn't catch up with me.

So sorry.... I will keep you and your family in my prayers.
My father got bladder cancer a few years back. The dr. said that it probably was a result of years and years of smoking (he was an un-filtered camel smoker since he was about 16).
He is cancer free now, after months of treatment, but still has to go for scans frequently.
I, myself smoked for about 20yrs and quit when I was pregnant with my daughter. Never went back (about 8years), but I'm still scared about what all those years of smoking did to my health, and when (if) it will catch up with me....
Again, my prayers are with you.

might I ask what type of cancer they diagnosed him with?, My father was recently diagnosed with small cell carcinoma in the limited stages, and although, it will be a long road, his long term prognosis is pretty good!..Either way, I know what your going through, and I wish you luck, and love..

my grandfather is a 4 time colon cancer survivor..he's 84, first came about when he was 72, went into remission for 3 years and it came back again..and its been like that ever since..coming and going..
currently he's attending his chemo therapy sessions, but he's doing very well..i swear he looks like he's still in his late 70's..he's out almost everyday with his buddies that i call "the paul posse"..paul is his name, lol
just felt like sharing that..maybe to give you some hope..
heres a photo i took of him last year at a garden he visits daily

I'm so sorry about your father!
Unfortunately lung cancer in most cases is preventable. :( Most people don't realize the effects smoking has on them and other people. I've seen people in the hospital (i'm in nursing school) that have lung cancer because they lived with someone who smoked for many years. Its really sad. My great grandfather was a long time smoker and he died of Emphysema. Its sad to see someone who has to choose between eating or breathing like these people do. They eventually dwindle down to skin and bones. It was hard seeing him when it got really sick because I felt so bad for him.
