It started out with just one of these, now I have a couple more... the pic is hard to see (sorry) but they are a little cluster that looks exactly like fishing line, about 1/4"-1/2" high. I've been looking around trying to identify them to see if I should yank them out, but haven't seen anything that looks quite like it. I have seen some debris caught in the tips and then a little while later it's gone, if that helps. The tank's only about six weeks old.

very hard to say from the picture...it could be a glass anem..aiptasia...need a better picture to be sure

Can't tell from the pic but google vermatid snails and see if that fits the bill mate. It sure does sound like the way that they fish out of the water column. They are harmless sesile snails.

wow, thanks, those are exactly it! I had wondered what those stiff tubey things were too, I assumed it was just crud on my rock. :) Now I know they're snails!
