180L tank, 92cmL x 41W x 55H - about 46 US Gallons before you put in substrate etc.

Water is Ph 7.2 out of the tap

Would Angels be happy in this with a school of bleeding hear tetra ? Some people I've asked have said yes, some no, some books say yes some no - this forum seems to be very knowledgeable and I really would value an Opinion.

If so, great ! I'll plan on buying young fish and hopefully the tetras won't get eaten.

If so what kind of numbers would be best ?

And if so, should I also put some bottom dwellers in ? Corys ? Small (v. small) Plec ?

If not, :( but at least I'll know

Thanks

I got my Angels when they were young, and the tetra's were a bit bigger at the time(big enough not to get swallowed by the Angels)

The 2 male Angels seem to leave the tetra's alone, and are more interested in chasing each other around the tank.

I also have plants for the tetra's to hide in.

The cories would be good, as some grow to 3 or 4 inches. And they do enjoy being in a group of at least 3.

The only thing I need to watch out for is to make sure that the cories get enough food, as the greedy Angels always aim for the sinking food.

Thats my experiences.

Thanks lazynode,

So I will go with a young pair of Angels and the Bleeding Hearts in a school of 10 or so, with 5 corydoras - added in that order over 4 - 6 weeks

Sounds cute. I hope you will post pictures once the tank has settled.

Not sure about the Bleeding Hearts (sounds like a Liberal fishie!:rolleyes:), but my Angels get along fine with the Black Shirt and Buenos Aires Tetras in my tank. Don't even notice the cory's..

Think if the Tetra is big enough not to be an easy meal, you'll be OK!

Thanks guys,

I can get some Angels locally that are very young and therefore small - I think the bleeding hearts will be ok.

Tank does not even have water in it (my better half is finalising the soft furnishings to accomodate it) so this is all some time away

I think that it is hit or miss having the tetras and angels. Personally, I had a problem with red-eye tetras nipping at one of my juvenile angels. I think this is rare and you should be fine.

If I were you I would go with 1-2 juvenile angels, 8-10 red eye or bleeding heart tetras, and a group of cories. Make sure you get at least 5 cories as they do much better in groups.

Maybe it's not so rare... I've seen this sort of nippy behavior from red eyes also. I've been told that bleeding hearts can be nippy as well, but I have limited experience with them. To be honest with you, I'd worry more about the angels than the BHs- you may see some aggression if you have very small angels. Also, small angels can be difficult to keep, and tend to stress easily in my experience. If you're totally set on the BHs, then go for it; I'd like to hear how it works out. If not, I've had great luck keeping angels with pristellas, Von Rios, glowlights, green fires, and head and tail lights. Congos would probably work fine too, as would any species that gets larger than neons and has a laid back temperament.

12 would be pushing it, IMO. The ones I've cared for have not exactly been shy...
