hey guys, this fish (green mandarin goby) was recently spotted by me at the LFS. It was absolutley beautiful.... about 1.5-2 inches long and about 2 inches from dorsal fin to anal fin i would say. My question was would a mandarin goby be ok for my 14g nano??? the tank has 12 lbs of LR and is not ready for life yet, still being cycled but when its ready i plan on a cleaner crew,(snails a shrimp maybe some hermits possibly a clam?) a clown, and maybe 2 or 3 gobys?.... for corals i really like the zoos and button poylps, i guess my question is does this sound like a suitable idea???

Mandarin goby's rely on pods for food, i would not put one of these into a tank that is less than a year old and that does have a fuge..The fuge will be used to cultivate copepods..

your only really looking a three medium ( 2-3 inches adult size ) fish in that size of tank to be honest...

Yeah, unfortunatley, mandarins are really one of those fishes that shouldn't be sold to the average fish keeper.

A lot of people say that unless you are constantly adding copepods from a different source, mandarin's need at least around 100lbs of live rock in a well-established (running for over a year) reef tank.
