Would it be possible to create a refuguim out of an AquaClear filter I found? And if so how?

I have a AquaClear 150gph for 10-30G Aquariums.

I use an aquaclear 500 as a refugium for my 25g reef...no plants in it, no lights, just live rock rubble for extra bio filtration and pod breeding.....I have noticed larger pods as a result, which my clown fish appreciates!

Thats great :) What did you do in order to set it up. Did you just take the filter material out and place the liverock and sand in?

Yes...but I tried sand then took it out...got into the impeller...the rubble by itself works fine....slide the intake to the right to slow down the flow...

Here's a site with some diy info on doing that Seven....I used this information to setup an aquaclear 70 as a fuge for a small 20long. Works great so far !

I siliconed a baffle between the impellor section and the tank half......Here's a pic of what I have in there if this helps.....I cut holes in the baffle where those black squares are, so that the water flows over the top of the baffle as well as through those holes..... I did NOT silicone the baffle right up against impellor box as you need to have a space for the water to come up from the bottom....

and a pic of it up and running...before I put the macro in it...

I use a light from off of one of those little 2 gallon hex tanks. It's the perfect size for this fuge. I put a 10watt compact flourescent bulb in it....picked it up at a tag sale for a dollar....
