ok, so i finally took the leap into planting. i've had them in the tank for three days now. i put flora dose tablets into my original substrate, and planted these plants:

8 dwarf lily bulbs-not grown yet
2 wisteria bunches
15 corkscrew vals
3 hornwort bunches
1 ozelot sword
3 banana plants

each morning i add flora 24 drops, my temp is 80, my water param are fine, i have diy co2, injected by my powerhead, and 160 watts of lighting. i think my fish are destroying my plants. the vals look eaten and tonight i found a whole bunch of wisteria peices floating at the top and caught in my filter and power head. does anyone know whats goin on? are the fish i have bad for a planted tank, everything i read about them says they're not, but maybe it's the type of plants i have???? any help would be awesome! if a left anything out let me know. thanx all!!!

The "suckermouth" could be eating your plants, but your Pleco most likely is. It will chew off stems and strip a leaf. It could be other things contributing to it as well, depending on your parameters: not enough light, not long enough light, lack of nutrients, C02... depends on all these factors.

never thought bout my pleco. he is quite large, and i was wondering how that many peices could be taken off by my other quite small fish...wow it never ends. thanx

so maybe i should remove him, and get some oto's for algae control???? or is there something i could do to maybe deter him from eating the plants so much?? i already feed him tablets at night, maybe some more tablets???????

I had a common pleco once and he ate everything haha but I loved him too much to get rid of him...I think he'll eat as many tablets as you put in plus your plants...there are plecos you can get that won't eat plants ^_^
