View Full Version : Decorative design
Why buy something you can get for free?
If I were starting from scratch and knew what I was doing, I'd do it in a hart beat. But most people new to fish keeping either don't know what a cycle is, or how important it is before getting fish.
But since I now have a fully cycled tank I wouldn't, since I can 'pre' cycle it myself.

When I click on this topic, it's showing the poll from http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122436 at the top, which has nothing to do with decorative design, and there's no post showing up from the thread starter in this thread.

if i was starting out fresh and didnt have any tanks to cycle a new one with, then i would. then you KNOW that it has bacteria living in it, and that it will quickly cycle the tank.

Hmmm, I'm confused as well with the OP...but to answer the question, I would just cycle on my own. Or help with another esablished tank if possible...

If there was absolutely NO way of obtaining cycled media from a friend, etc. and was staring completely from scratch I'd THINK about it. I think a really good LFS should offer it for free along with good advice though.
