I have inherited a huge amount of lionel trains, lots of engines included. If anyone in the NJ area is interested in buying any of them please let me know, i have like 5,000 to choose from so i might have exactly what you want, i need to get these out of my house. post any questions you have.

If I were you, I'd start with researching on Ebay, and calling regional antique toy dealers, to find out prices for each piece and complete sets. Otherwise, in your rush to get rid of them, you could get really hosed!!!! Ex was an antiques dealer . . . there's a guy in Bethlehem PA, Harry something or other, totally immersed in toys/collectibles.

That would be my suggestion too. Lionel trains, especially older ones can bring you tons of money.

You can also probably find price guides at the library.
Some ratty looking Lionel pieces are worth thousands- you just can't tell by looking at them.
