I made one of these to make water changes easier. The one I have is different and after using it I came up with a much better design which incorporates the vacuuming feature. It is so easy to use because the syphon is already there and all you do is connect your hose and turn on the tap.water change - vac.jpg

I actually check it first and then connect the water line. The one I use just slips off and on so I can check the temp whenever I want to. I guess you really could have a three way valve at the water supply and just turn it when it is at the right temp.

Great idea! I'm thinking of a way to have a small mixing chamber on the python I'm building, it's essentially going to be a small inline jar, with a valve on the tank side. I want to put a thermometer in there, and I plan on putting my dechlorinator and possibly salt for my brackish tank it it when filling that tank.
