How can you tell? (dumb question)

this is a really dumb question, but how do you read one of those stick-on thermominters? (sp?) LOL
when ever i tell you guys the temp. of my tank, i use one of those floaty ones...
my stick on is:
76*: a purple black
78*: blue-purple
80*: green
82*: DARK red

ON mine, where the green is, is the temp. So if you had the same on as me, your tank would be around 80
