Alright, this is gonna be pennies to some of you guys, but I bought my most expensive fish yet tonight. So far I've been buying the damsels because they're cheap and I'm new at this. Let's face it, it's a little less heartbreaking to kill a $6 fish then a $60 fish. So, tonight I bought a yellow tang. I've dripped him for a little over an hour, I turned him loose and he is going crazy on my hair algae! I've never had a fish start eating this fast after letting them loose. Exciting stuff! I just wanted to share.

I guess I should've included, this fish was $30.

30 bucks?!
it's okay, you've still got time.
it isnt until you start paying 2 or 3 times that for a 1" piece of coral that you are in trouble.... trust me... i know :dance2:

I haven't bought a single piece of coral yet because I'm scared to death!!! Gotta ease into these things! Don't want to mortgage the house for the coral just yet.

oh man... my tank would be SWEET if only i had a house to mortgage.....

just kidding

got a pic of the tang :)

It's a really crappy picture, kinda makes my eyes go nuts, it's the only one I've taken of him so far, he was zipping through the tank. Obviously I took it with my phone. I'll try to get better ones at some point with a real camera.

looks kinda skinny im glad that u got it so itll fatten up!
we sell them for 29.95 at my store to they are cheep only cost us $9 lol. and fishiness all this like $60-$100 corals only cost like $20-39 lol mark up is a lot lol. ive spent about $3000 on my tanks but when i add up what it would cost me if i didnt get whole sale t was aboyt $5800 lol. if u ever need anything fo a bit cheaper and wana pay the shipping id be more than happy to order it lol.
oh and u wana know an expensive tang? $300 for a black tang lol
and the most expensive fish ive seen on our list was a dragon morey for $650 wholesale thats bout $1950 retail!

I was thinking he looked a bit thin too, maybe that's why he's eating everything in sight now! I ordered some extra algae online today to suppliment, and a refugum, if he keeps eating like this, my hair algae won't last more then a couple weeks. It's hard to believe that there's such a markup. The usual LFS that I go for charges $70 for a yellow tang, that's why I was psyched about getting one for $30!

Nice tang! Tangs are my favorite and seem to eat everything. If you attach some seaweed somewhere in there, he'll most likely go crazy.

So...you going to name him?

I got home tonight and he's fattened up some already. I got some live algae on the way, he's taken care of a lot of my hair algae already. He's coloring up a lot too, he has a white stripe down each side and a spot on his tail. My hubby has named him Poo-Tang.
